There are reports that the MLS (who owns Adu's contract) and Benfica have reached a transfer fee agreement for young Freddy Adu. However, it now appears that negotiations have Adu and Benfica have yet to reach personal terms.
This is certainly not what I expected. Adu doesn't have to much leverage here, and could be jeopardizing his European desires. It is unknown whether Adu is holding out for more money or something else, but hopefully this will get resolved soon. Benfica could be the ideal place for him to get his career jumpstarted!
